We held our Autumn Study Day on 1st November at Reaseheath College.
Our speakers were excellent
Advolly Richmond, garden historian and author, told us about “A Short History of Flowers; The stories that shaped our gardens”
John Scrace, plant pathologist, told us about “Fabulous Fungi (and Malicious Moulds)”
Our next Study Day will be Friday, 21st February 2025 at Reaseheath College.
Our Spring Nesletter has been issued and this includes details of our Summer 2024 outings. We have an interesting programme of events which should be enjoyable – here’s hoping we get a bit of sunshine!

Our Winter Newsletter is now available and this contains details of our next Study Day which will be on 23rd February.
We have two very interesting speakers for our Study Day. Emily Chandler will tell us about the Winter Garden at Dunham Massey and Ken Black will talk to us about clematis.
The Newsletter also contains reports on our October Study Day, so is well worth a read.

Our next Study Day is on 27th October at Reaseheath College.
Our lectures will be “’Making the most of your Garden” by Christine Walkden in the morning and in the afternoon, “Breathing New Life into Old Walls – restoring the walled kitchen garden at Haigh Hall” by Sylvia Travers.

On 24th February our lectures will be ‘Salvias and Ornamental Grasses’ by Gordon Malt and ‘The Making of RHS Garden Bridgewater – plans and progress’ by Marcus Chilton-Jones, Curator of RHS Bridgewater.

We had a lovely Study Day on Friday, 25th February at Reaseheath College. It was wonderful to see so many of our members face-to-face again.
Our lectures were “How Plants Communicate” by Dr Tony Polwart and “Edible Landscaping” by Richard Smedley
Write-ups of the lectures for both of our speakers will be available in the Spring Newsletter which will be published in mid-April.
Our next study day is planned for 7th July – details will be published in April 2022.

Our two talks were “Recent Developments in Hydroponics and Intensive Crop Production” by Dr Paul Challinor and “Colour in the Leaf” by Anthony Norman of Conquest Plants
